Larry H. Frostiak, FCA, CFP, TEPLarry provides business and tax advice to owner-managed enterprises, including financial and wealth management services to assist clients in building “tax-efficient” business and corporate structures. Larry also specializes in providing clients with estate and trust services.

I’m passionate about working with business owners because I’ve always believed that Canada’s economic success depends on people that are creating jobs for others. These are business owners and managers who are prepared to take measured risks backed by the knowledge and expertise the people in our firm can provide in the areas such as taxation, wealth and estate management.

Larry’s professional accomplishments include:
  • Founding partner of Frostiak & Leslie Chartered Professional Accountants Inc.
  • Elected fellow of the Manitoba Institute of Chartered Accountants (FCA designation/2005)
  • Served as a Member of Council of the Manitoba Institute of Chartered Accountants (June 2007 – June 2012)
  • Currently appointed as Alternate Tax Commissioner – Province of Manitoba
  • Currently serving as a member of CPA Manitoba Foundation Fund Development Committee
  • Frequent speaker and lecturer on tax and estate planning matters
  • Authored many articles on taxation and estate planning, and courses for Knowledge Bureau
  • Co-authored a text entitled Taxation of Trusts and Estates : A Practitioner’s Guide 2014, with John E.S. Poyser and Grace Chow, published by Thomson Carswell (first edition released November 2004)
  • A founding member of the Winnipeg branch of the Society of Trust and Estate Practioners (STEP)
  • Served as Chair of STEP (Winnipeg) May 1999 until fall of 2004 and subsequently was engaged in key roles on the Canadian executive of STEP, including STEP Canada Treasurer and also on its nominations committee
  • Recipient of STEP (Canada) inaugural volunteer achievement award (2005)
  • Elected to STEP Worldwide Council (September 2005) and served as STEP Worldwide treasurer until December 2011 (currently serves on STEP Canada Awards committee)
  • Currently treasurer of the Estate Planning Council of Winnipeg
  • Recipient of STEP Founder’s award (2014)
  • Recipient of the FDFSTM  – Fellow of Distinguished Financial Services TM (2023)
Larry is committed to helping his community as well as contributing to his profession:
  • Past Chair of the Taxation Committee, Manitoba Institute of Chartered Professional Accountants
  • Past member of the Planned Giving Committee of the Manitoba Heart and Stroke Foundation
  • Active in the Capital fund raising program for Prairie Theatre Exchange during their move from Princess Street to Portage Place
  • Board member (including Treasurer and Vice President) of Prairie Theatre Exchange (1996-2001)
  • Member of the Board of Friends of the Canadian Museum of Human Rights
  • Has established scholarship funds at the University of Winnipeg Foundation for students possessing leadership skills and commitment to excellence; and CPA Manitoba Foundation for individuals entering the CPA Professional Education Program who demonstrate an entrepreneurial spirit and leadership abilities, as well as the Shevchenko Foundation for leadership in the Ukrainian business community
  • Established legacy funds at Prairie Theatre Exchange for new playwright development, the Shevchenko Foundation for business leadership and also and education fund with the Canadian Museum for Human Rights
